Access to the right people and skills continues to be a perennial issue for businesses in the East Midlands. With recruitment intentions remaining constant, our Quarterly Economic Survey 2023 data shows that on average 70% of businesses struggled to fill the roles they had available. This is compounded by a flatlining of investment in capital equipment and training, all elements that are stifling economic growth.
As the Chamber evolves policy asks for Government based on our “A Centre of Trading Excellence- Business Manifesto for Growth in the East Midlands” the Summit will focus on how we develop a skills base fit for 21st century industry.
On the day, through a range of keynote speakers, panel discussion and workshops we will explore the following themes:
– How we target skills reform for the realities of today’s workforce.
– How do we support improved recruitment, training and retention.
– Local accountability – how do we create a skills and employment framework that delivers on behalf of both providers and employers.
– How we develop truly inclusive and healthy workplaces.
The workshops on the day will offer practical content to support businesses with their HR, people and skills needs.
