Description

This is a fully funded four-day module programme running October 16, 30, November 14, and December 3.

**This programme is open to Nottingham city businesses only. Please note due to limited availability we can only allow one booking per business per workshop topic.**

Each session runs 2 weeks apart to give you the chance to apply the principles covered and complete any short tasks before the next session. All sessions form part of the holistic approach required for effective sustainability and Net Zero strategy delivery.

This Programme covers the following topic headings:

- Key Concepts and The Business Case
- Decarbonising Culture and Optimising Engagement
- Decarbonising Governance, Footprints and Effective Communication
- Accreditations, Policy Writing and Action Planning

The programme takes a very practical, industry-based focus, with interactive discussions, group and individual work. It has been designed to curate a toolkit that meets each company’s particular needs and identify immediate action points across the sessions, culminating in the production of an action plan and corresponding policy.

Day One - Thursday 16 October 2025
Key Concepts and The Business Case
- The core components of Sustainability, Net Zero and ESG
- Exploring how sustainable your company is
- Understanding the legal position
- Identifying your sources of emissions, reducing your footprint and the impacts of climate change
- Identifying the commercial opportunities of taking sustainability and Net Zero action

Day Two - Thursday 30 October 2025
Decarbonising Culture and Optimising Engagement
- Pinpointing the cultural barriers to effective policy development and implementation
- Creating the right environment for your policies to succeed
- Mitigating the psychological barriers to taking climate action within your employees and wider stakeholders
- Exploring the techniques to develop impactful climate conversations to reduce pushbacks

Day Three - Friday 14 November 2025
Decarbonising Governance, Digital Footprints and delivering ‘Green’ Marketing
- Identifying the key levers to strengthen your risk management and business continuity
- Exploring how to reduce your digital carbon footprint and the impact of AI on your sustainability
- Reflecting on how to deliver an authentic green marketing strategy and avoid the pitfalls of greenwashing and greenhushing

Day Four - Wednesday 3 December 2025
Accreditations, Policy Writing and Action Planning
- Identifying appropriate accreditations and certifications for your business
- The key components of an effective sustainability or Net Zero policy and its alignment with Wellbeing and EDI policies
- Completing your action plan

Outcome

The Programme is for decision makers at executive, senior and middle management levels.

The outcomes from this programme are -
- Clear understanding of the opportunities and challenges posed by Sustainability, ESG and Net Zero
- Action plan and policy creation to improve strategic planning delivery (or revision of existing policy)
- Improved growth potential
- Stronger recruitment and retention of both clients and employees
- Optimised engagement

Eligibility:

This workshop is only open to established enterprises located in Nottingham city.

The project is funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
