Detail on the Employment Rights Act, why is it important?
After Royal Assent was given on 18 December 2025, we now have the Employment Rights Act 2025. This is the biggest piece of employment legislation in many years together with the regulations which will being the changes into effect it is set to change the landscape for unfair dismissal, tribunal claims and much more. There is not only the introduction of many day 1 rights; a reduction in the qualifying period of employment for unfair dismissal claims to 6 months service from 2 years; but also significant changes to Statutory sick pay, zero hours workers and sexual harassment. The next 12 – 24 months are certainly set to be interesting for employment lawyers and HR professionals but also likely to involve a lot of work for many businesses, we will help you all navigate these changes.
