Held in partnership with Derbyshire County Council and delivered by the University of Derby, this session is designed to strengthen Derbyshire’s position as a hub for advanced manufacturing by equipping local SMEs and micro-businesses with the knowledge, skills, and connections they need to thrive.

By focusing on practical, actionable content, participants will leave with tools and strategies they can immediately apply to grow and compete in this high-value sector.

Each session will run for three hours and combine expert insights, real-world case studies, and interactive exercises to deliver maximum impact. Together, these sessions will help businesses build resilience, improve competitiveness, and contribute to the long-term growth of the advanced manufacturing sector in Derbyshire.

Overview

Join Dr Hamid Hashemi Petrudi for an online workshop to examine:

- The business case for sustainability in manufacturing.
- Key sustainability targets and compliance requirements.
- Lean manufacturing principles for operational efficiency.
- Practical techniques for waste reduction and cost savings.
- How sustainability can help win contracts with major manufacturers.
- Examples of sustainable practices from leading companies.
- Tools for measuring and improving environmental performance.

Outcome: Participants will learn how to integrate sustainability and lean principles to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance competitiveness.
