Marketing agency creates five jobs in Kickstart scheme – with help from East Midlands Chamber

Marketing agency Digital Ethos is seeking five full-time young workers to join its growing team after being accepted onto the Government’s Kickstart scheme – with the help of East Midlands Chamber.

The Leicester-headquartered company wants to fill vacancies for a research assistant, office administrator, marketing executive, content executive and social media executive by the end of March.

The £2bn Kickstart scheme was announced by the Government last year to cover the cost of a six-month work placement for 16 to 24-year-olds, and the Chamber is acting as a gateway organisation to apply on behalf of firms that have fewer than 30 roles.

Opportunity for taking on Kickstart placement students full time

Digital Ethos, which hired eight permanent staff at the end of 2020 to take headcount to 28, is among this cohort and has become one of the first businesses in Leicestershire to be accepted for the new funding.

Luke Tobin, CEO of Digital Ethos, said: “In a creative industry such as ours, where marketing in all its disciplines has resurrected businesses through the pandemic, we have a great deal to share and welcome the ideas of Generation Z, those who have recently completed college or recent graduates.

“We need to move with the times and it’s this generation that will drive our sector forward – that’s why we intend to keep our five recruits on long term and will encourage them to see the bigger picture.

“Business owners should consider the skills that are valuable – assessing what is needed, or even wanted, in their sector. Then reach out to their local Chambers, which are more than willing to help.”

Pieter Eksteen, education and business partnership manager at East Midlands Chamber, said: “Digital Ethos is providing incredible opportunities for unemployed young people who could otherwise be left behind as a result of the pandemic.

“We strongly urge other businesses interested in the Kickstart Scheme to reach out to their local chambers.”
