Overview

Are you an experienced event coordinator? Do you have a background in supporting networks to growth and thrive? Are you motivated to support businesses? If so, you could be our next Events team member. 

As our Networks Events & Engagement Officer, you will support the growth, development and successful delivery of the Chamber’s business networks, including Enterprising Women, East Midlands Manufacturing Network and Generation Next.  

Our networks are a key workstream, bringing businesses and professionals together through events, workshops, awards, mentoring, peer learning and thought leadership activity. Through this, we support members to build valuable relationships, share insight, develop skills and celebrate success across the East Midlands. 

You will help to strengthen member engagement, grow participation, positively contribute to strategic partnerships and deliver a high-quality programme of events, networking and learning opportunities plus other related activity across Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire. 

Overview

Key areas of responsibility

  • Support the recruitment, retention and engagement of network members, identifying opportunities to grow participation and generate wider Chamber engagement. 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with members, sponsors, partners, venues, speakers and other stakeholders to support collaboration, income generation and member value. 
  • Work with the Commercial Events Manager, network boards, chairs and internal colleagues to shape and deliver an engaging annual programme of events, networking opportunities, mentoring and thought leadership activity. 
  • Coordinate event delivery from planning through to evaluation, including administration, bookings, delegate communications, venues, speakers, suppliers and follow-up activity. 
  • Work closely with the Marketing Team to support promotional activity, member communications, website content, social media, case studies and other engagement materials. 
  • Monitor attendance, feedback, engagement data, budgets and performance information to support continuous improvement, reporting and achievement of agreed objectives. 
  • Organise and support network board, steering group and stakeholder meetings, including agendas, papers, minutes, actions and follow-up communications. 
  • Represent the Chamber professionally at events, meetings and stakeholder activities, working flexibly where required to support member and network activity.

Overview

Applicants will possess

  • A high level of motivation and passion for delivering events and other business support activities.
  • Experience of developing, growing or supporting membership-based services, business networks or professional peer-to-peer communities. 
  • Strong business development, account management or stakeholder engagement experience, with the ability to build effective relationships with businesses, members, sponsors, partners and senior stakeholders. 
  • Experience of planning, coordinating and delivering events, networking or workshops.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and networking skills, with the confidence to represent the Chamber professionally. 
  • A proactive, creative and customer-focused approach.
  • Can work independently, use initiative and collaborate effectively across teams. 
  • Able to monitor performance information, feedback, budgets and engagement data to support reporting, continuous improvement and delivery against agreed objectives. 
  • Experienced in using CRM systems, digital channels, social media or marketing activity to support engagement, communications and relationship management. 
  • Strong organisational and administration skills.
  • Able to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure. 
  • A full driving licence, access to own transport and willingness to travel across Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire, including occasional work outside standard office hours where required.

If you’re successful at this stage, you will be invited for an interview. If you’re unsuccessful, the Chamber’s HR team will let you know by email.

First, you’ll be invited to participate in an in-person interview week commencing 7 September 2026 at the Chamber’s Chesterfield or Nottingham office. If your interview goes well, you may be invited to attend a second interview or receive an offer.

At the end of each interview, the interviewer will confirm the timeline for next steps.

Virtual interviews are approximately 30-minutes and in-person interviews usually last around an hour. There will be a mix of competency based interview questions and practical tasks.

Decisions will be made at each stage of the process, as we score applicants against the role criteria. If you’re successful, we will contact you to make an offer (subject to satisfactory employment checks). This will be followed up in writing and a contract will be sent to you once a start date is confirmed. You will receive information on your induction and what you will do on your first day.
