Description
Since coming to office, Donald Trump has placed wide-reaching duties on goods from nearly every country in the world, and the legal basis and rates for these measures have changed repeatedly, including following a Supreme Court ruling. In addition, the USA has placed numerous further duties on specific product categories, such as steel, aluminium and copper, which may have significant implications for UK exporters. This course helps UK exporters establish which duties apply to their products and how to manage them. We work through the process step by step, from determining origin and finding the right USA commodity code to understanding the true landed cost for your American customers and the options available to reduce it.
Overview
• How Incoterms can affect our costs
• How to establish the origin of our exports
• Working out what duties may apply to our products
• Changes to de minimis rules for low-cost goods
• The impact on USA importers
• Practical mitigation strategies
Outcome
This is a 3-hour interactive session delivered online, with plenty of opportunity to ask questions. You'll work through practical activities, such as finding the duty rates for real products using the UK Government and USA tariff tools, and calculating how the changes affect landed cost.
