Delivered in partnership with Derbyshire County Council and the University of Derby, the conference aims to support growth and resilience within the Advanced Manufacturing sector in Derbyshire County.

On the day there be a range of content which aims to support businesses to explore and gain new supplychain opportunities and to explore the benefits of Apprenticeships for attracting and retaining talent, supporting employment opportunities for the Community.

The Conference also brings together the business community and young people as part of the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Manufacturing) initiatives delivered by the Derbyshire Makes project and delivered as part of the 2026 Derbyshire Makes Festival.

If you want to explore new opportunities, develop your ability to access new supply chains, to understand how apprenticeships can support your business growth, resilience and CSR, this event is for you!

On the day there will be a range if insightful presentations, exhibitors providing business support and a great opportunity to network with like-minded businesses.

**Eligibility: The conference is aimed at those businesses operating within the sphere of Advanced Manufacturing and who are based within the Derbyshire County Council Area **

- Supply chain Opportunities in the UK’s Developing Nuclear Capabilities - Andrew Storer, CEO & Founder of NucCol (Nuclear Collaboration Ltd)

The nuclear supply chain the East Midlands is undergoing a major expansion, driven by its history in advanced manufacturing and its role in the UK’s next-generation nuclear projects, such as Small Modular Reactors and Fusion. NucCol will detail the potential range of opportunities and routes to engage in the nuclear supply chain.

- Support for innovation in Advanced Manufacturing - Dr Chris Pilgrim, Technical Lead, Innovate UK (IUK) Business Connect.

- Business Case Study – David Goater, Managing Director, Trans-Tronic Ltd

Overview of an exemplar organisation working as a supplier to large OEMs, providing an overview of some of the associated challenges, best practices, opportunities and entry point examples, covers sectors, such as automotive, rail, aerospace, defence, telecommunications, medical and renewables

- Derbyshire Makes/STEAM into ACTION - Clare Limb, Project Lead & Students from Belper School - how Derbyshire Makes has been enabling the creativity and problem-solving skills of children and young people how your business can get involved in nurturing the talent of the designers and makers of the future.

Clare will be joined by students from Belper School involved in the pilot phase of the project

- Scaling for High-Compliance Manufacturing - Neil Chandler, Managing Director, Nelop Systems Ltd

For modern manufacturers, the "barrier to entry" for the most lucrative supply chains has shifted. Producing a high-quality component is no longer enough, you must now demonstrate that the environment in which it was created is as resilient as the product itself.
